Gentlemen of Dubuque 48 (7) - Algona Gopher College 15(3)

MATCH SYNOPSIS: By Dave Schlueter

The Gentlemen traveled 4 hours away to Algona IA to play against a 3 and 0 Gopher College RFC.  This was the Gentlemen’s first real test of the year and due to work and family commitments, the boys had exactly 15 players with the additions to the squad of Corey Birkel and Frank Bisek.  The lads from Algona came to play and jumped to an early lead, 5 to nil.  However, the Gentlemen settled down and were ultimately able to record an impressive 48 to 15 victory.

POSITIVES:  Winning on the road with maximum points toward the league standings.  Facing a tough opponent and still remaining composed on the road despite numbers. 

NEGATIVES:  Allowing an opponent to draw first blood and of course our numbers on the road.

Great job by all those who traveled and came back victorious!  Special thanks to Corey and Frank for coming to the rescue of their mates and playing well.  Three cheers for carrying the day!
