Gentlemen of Dubuque 29 (5) - Iowa Falls RFC 0
MATCH SYNOPSIS: By Dave Schlueter
The Gentlemen traveled to Iowa Falls on a chilly Sunday to do battle with the Iowa Falls RFC. We traveled with 17 players and the usual cast of support personal. The Gentlemen started the scoring 10 minutes into the match with a maul pushover try from 10 meters out by Hiram Heysinger. The conversion was skew. Before half blew Ryan Marshall dotted down a try in the corner. The conversion was once again a miss and we went to the half 10 nil up. The Gentlemen then scored 3 more tries after the intermission-2 conversions slotted-for the final tally of 29 to 0.
POSITIVES: Winning with maximum points. It was the first victory at Iowa Falls in quite a few years. We pitched a shutout. Everyone played and contributed to the victory. But, most importantly, we got back on track with G O D Rugby. We played with good discipline despite some rather unusual match ruling. We treated each other with respect and stayed positive. No team is ever “good enough” to take those values and attributes for granted! If they do, they will eventually destroy themselves! Great step in the right direction!
NEGATIVES: Need to continue to work on poaching opposition ball and recycling and controlling our own.
Great overall effort!!
