1st Round Midwest DIII Playoffs
MATCH SYNOPSIS: By Dave Schlueter
The Gentlemen traveled to Champaign Illinois on Halloween to due battle with the #1 team out of the Illinois Union and came away with a 15 to 5 verdict to move on to the second round of the DIII playoffs. The boys played without their captain who was away on family business and without their starting out center whom was out with illness. Despite that, and playing on a “less then ideal” pitch, the lad’s cowboy’d up for the victory. Brian Ziemet playing while still recovering from the remnants of a viral infection gave everything before having to give way to exhaustion with less then 20 minutes left in the match . The tight five of Matt Roberts, Hiram Heysinger, Nic Romaine, Frank Bisek , and Michael Fielding lead the forward pack with no substitutions available for the entire match. The win puts the Gentlemen in round 2 of the playoffs, where they will travel to Fond Du Lac to play against the Wisconsin Union #1 seed, the Wolfpac, on November 7th. Let’s keep this ball rolling!!
